“Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit”. – John 3:5
Congratulations on the birth of your child! We rejoice with you and are honored to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism for your child. Baptism is the gateway to the sacraments and the beginning of life in Christ. At St. Joseph Catholic Church, we are committed to walking with your family and guiding you through each step as you prepare to celebrate this sacred moment.
To celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism at St. Joseph’s, we ask that parents be registered parishioners for a minimum of three months.

Below are the guidelines and steps towards baptism for infants, toddlers, and young children. If your child is aged 7 or above, please contact our Faith Formation team at faithformation@stjosephorlando.org for information on children’s OCIA.
Steps for Baptism at St. Joseph Catholic Church:
- Please review and complete the following document:
Please submit your completed forms to faithformation@stjosephorlando.org or feel free to drop them off at our office during office hours.
- Choose Godparents: At least one Godparent must be a practicing Catholic in good standing who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. If the Godparent(s) are married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. If there are two Godparents, they must be one male and one female. Each Godparent must complete the Godparent Eligibility Form included in the Baptism Preparation Packet. This form must be signed and sealed by their home parish.
- Baptism Preparation Class: Parents and Godparents are required to complete a baptism preparation class. These classes are held every third Saturday of the month and require registration. For registration to the baptism prep class, please email faithformation@stjosephorlando.org.
- Schedule the Baptism Ceremony: Once all documents are received and approved, the baptism date can be scheduled. Our baptism takes place on the first Sunday of the month and alternates between the 10 AM mass and the noon Mass for baptisms in English. Baptisms in Spanish occur on the first Saturdays of the month during the 7 PM Spanish Mass.
